Waikato Institute of Education (WIE) is excited to announce the addition of IELTS Pre-Tests TO its's range of IELTS resources. Pre-Testing is free and open to all of your students - whether they are studying IELTS at WIE or at another school. WIE wants to give all your students the opportunity to practice with a pre-test.

Why take a Pre-Test？

There are two main benefits of pre-testing for students:

Pretesting gives students the opportunity to take an IELTS test using genuine questions and under genuine exam conditions.

Students are given an approximate IELTS score in Reading. Writing and Listening; Speaking is not currently pre-tested.

Taking a practice thest under strict exam conditions helps students to be less nenrous when taking the test as they know what to expect and have done it before.When students are able to relax during the test they will do better.The scores given are not official scores and do not guarantee performance on the IELTS test.but they give students an idea of what areas they need to improve in . By preacticing with a pre-test students can be better prepared when they take the IELTS exam.

What is Pre-Testing?

Pretets are exam made of rela IELTS questions and new questions that the developers of the IELTS test are trialling . Each question on an IELTS exam has been trialled on a Pre-test to ensure that:

the exam is accurate and fair, with each individual item pitched at the right level.

the content is appropriate and that people from all backgrounds can do equally well.

The developers of the exam look carefully at the answers from candidates in pre-tests and use complex benchmarking processes to determaine the accuracy and faimess of each question. They also listen to feedback from both candidates and teachers to ensure that the exam is a good measure of students English abilities. By Trialling questions on pre-tests, IELTS is able to ensure that every exam meets the expected high standard.

How do I apply?

All your students need to do to apply is email their details to exam@wie.ac.nz and include the subject Pre-Testing. There are only a limited number of tests available for each test date so it is important that they apply as soon as possible.
