Australian Travel Declaration

Students are required to complete an Australian Travel Declaration (ATD) at least 72 hours before departure. The ATD contains a declaration regarding vaccination status that is considered to be critical health information. You must be able to provide evidence that you made this declaration before boarding the aircraft.To complete your ATD, visit:

Pre-departure PCR testing：

All travellers to Australia, including those who have been vaccinated, must provide evidence of a negative pre-departure polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test within 3 days before the flight’s schedule departure into Australia.

Most overseas countries and regions also require a PCR test and to present a valid negative test result before you can transit through or enter.  The timeframes for this vary and is specific to each country’s entry requirement. Ensure that you check the requirements in any countries or regions that you are travelling through.

EntryCheck SA

Every traveller arriving in South Australia from overseas or interstate will need to complete the Entry Check SA form. You can complete this form up to 14 days before your planned arrival and it is recommended you complete your application at least 72 hours before your planned arrival.

When completing the EntryCheck SA form, you will be required to provide a contact phone number in South Australia. Do not select that you have a mobile phone number.

Please select ‘No’ for this question and type in the following contact number：+61 8 8115 8888

You will also be required to provide a quarantine address. As you will be undertaking you quarantine in a medi hotel, please type in the following address：55 Waymouth St, Adelaide, SA, 5000

Will I need to quarantine when I arrive in South Australia?

At this point in time, all international students arriving in South Australia must undertake 7 days quarantine in a medi-hotel, internation arrivals will move from 7 days of quarantine to 72 hours from 28 December ( However there may be some new changes depending on the then covid-19 situation in SA.）

Once you leave quarantine you must not:

attend an event in South Australia with an approved COVID Management Plan for 14 days after your arrival in South Australia. Further information is available here: Create a COVID Management Plan | SA.GOV.AU: COVID-19.

enter a high risk setting in South Australia for 14 days after arrival, unless you meet requirements to be permitted. More information about high risk settings can be found at: Activity restriction levels | SA.GOV.AU: COVID-19.

If I arrive in a different Australian city, can I then travel into South Australia without quarantining?

International students arriving in Australia need to comply with the quarantine requirements in the state or territory of their arrival, as well as any other state or territories to which they plan to travel.

Before you book your flight, check the quarantine arrangements for the state or territory to which you are travelling: States (australia.gov.au).

As a result of the changing quarantine requirements across Australia and the impact they have on our ability to manage student welfare obligations, we encourage student travelling without a guardian to fly directly into Adelaide.

How old do I have to be to travel without a guardian?

Students under the age of 16 must travel with a guardian whilst quarantine arrangements are still in place. Students aged 16 years and over can travel independently.

Will I need a current student visa to return to South Australia?

Yes, you will need to hold a valid Student Visa to return to Australia. You can check your current visa status and the expiry date of your visa through VEVO or your ImmiAccount. You can also use your ImmiAccount to apply for a new visa if yours has already expired or is close to expiring. For further information on Student Visas, go to the DHA website

If you held a student visa on or after 1 February 2020 and couldn’t’t complete your course in your original visa validity because of the impacts of COVID-19, you may be eligible for a visa application fee waiver. You can find out more about this on the Department of Home Affairs website or speak to South Australian Government Schools.

Is there anything I can do to prepare to return to Adelaide?

It is anticipated that flight capacity may be reduced in the short term as Australia begins to open its international borders so, please start to consider booking flights as soon as you are able to.

Once you have booked a flight, please complete the EntryCheck SA | SA.GOV.AU: COVID-19 form within 14 days of your arrival into Adelaide and let South Australian Government Schools know of your arrival date into Adelaide by completing our Online Student Arrival Form to advise our office of your flight details and vaccination status. This form will be important to assist us track and manage student arrivals into South Australia.

Do I have to be vaccinated to travel to Australia?

Only fully vaccinated international students will be able to enter Australia without a travel exemption.

To qualify as fully vaccinated, you need to have received the recommended schedule of doses of a vaccine that Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has approved or recognised.

Individuals vaccinated with mixed doses will be considered fully vaccinated if all vaccines received are approved or recognised by the TGA.

Will students from all countries be able to return to South Australia?

Fully vaccinated student visa holders from any country, besides identified countries of concern, are now able to enter Australia from 15 December.

Do I still need a travel exemption to come to Australia?
